Bollywood Megastar Shahrukh Khan Turned 50 Today
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has a
string of hits from "Baazigar" to "Chennai Express" over a career
spanning 27 years, turned 50 today and expressed gratitude to his
millions of fans.
To wish the actor on his milestone birthday, his fans started gathering outside his bungalow 'Mannat' since the wee hours.

Shah Rukh came out to greet them and later took
to Facebook to say that he is humbled by the love showered on him by his
admirers.
"Right now so humbled by the attention and love being given to my Birthday. Didn't ever realise living will be so beautiful. Thanks all," an emotional SRK posted.
On his 50th birthday, Shah Rukh took to social media to unveil the second teaser of his much-awaited film "Fan", which provides a glimpse of Gaurav, the biggest fan of the biggest movie star.
"Today as I turn 50 I turn 25 again- for all the years of love
you have given me, I give you my most heartfelt creation. Gaurav the
FAN. You and I are a Belief! ?#?IAmGaurav? and meet me here," SRK posted
alongside a link of the teaser of the Maneesh Sharma-directed film.
Shah Rukh made humble beginnings on the small screen, featuring
in shows like "Fauji", "Circus" and others. After having a successful
stint on television he turned towards Bollywood with "Deewana".
Initially he played anti-hero parts in films like "Baazigar", "Darr", "Anjaan" and also appeared in comedy, drama and romantic films.

Though he has acted in films across genres but he came to be known as the 'King of Romance', who mesmerised everyone with his charm in films like "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge", "Mohabattein", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hain", "Dil To Pagal Hai" and "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" among others.
His second stint on TV was when he replaced megastar Amitabh Bachchan for a season as the host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" in 2007. A year later, Shah Rukh hosted another show "Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain". He also appeared in "Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout" the Indian version of American reality show "Wipeout".
Besides his love for cinema, SRK has a penchant for video games and sports. He is the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Currently, Shah Rukh is busy finishing the shoot of Rohit Shetty's "Dilwale", which will hit theatres on December 18. It will be followed by the release of Aditya Chopra's home production "Fan" and Rahul Dholakia's "Raaes".
Interestingly, this year, the famous Khan trio of Bollywood--Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman--all turn 50.

'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' was a typical romance in the Swiss mountain tops that had all the makings of a beautiful love story including the disapproval of the girl's father. 2 . Dil To Pagal Hai : Another popular and well-love film of Shah Rukh's is Yash Chopra-directed, 'Dil To Pagal' Hai. Revolving around a love triangle, the film not only had Shah Rukh showing off his acting skills but also his ability to dance. It won three National Film Awards and eight Filmfare Awards.
3 . Kuch Kuch Hota Hai : In 1998, Shah Rukh Khan starred in Karan Johar's directorial debut as Rahul. Revolving around a love triangle between a typical college guy (Shah Rukh Khan), his best friend, played by Kajol and one of the most beautiful girls in college - portrayed by Rani Mukherji. SRK was loved for playing a father onscreen.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham : In 2010, Shah Rukh Khan appeared in Karan Johar's multi-starrer, 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' along with Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The family drama was widely successful, winning several awards at popular award ceremonies the following year, including five Filmfare Awards.
5 . Devdas : In 2002, Shah Rukh Khan played a love sick alcoholic in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas'. The story of unrequited love moved audiences deeply and went on to nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was also India's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. 'Devdas' won five National Awards and a further Filmfare Awards.

Kal Ho Naa Ho : 2003 saw Shah Rukh Khan join Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta onscreen for Nikhil Advani's love story where a girl falls in love with her neighbour, a terminally ill man played by Shah Rukh Khan. Selfless love was the key in this plot as he played matchmaker between Saif and Preity's characters. 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' was declared a major blockbuster at the box office. It emerged as the second highest grossing film domestically and the highest grossing film in overseas and worldwide that year.

Veer-Zaara : Shah Rukh's role as Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force pilot who falls in love with a Pakistani woman (Preity Zinta), from a politically affluent family only to be jailed for the next 22 years, made his audiences sob with great intensity. Directed by Yash Chopra, the beautiful love story won several awards in major Indian film award ceremonies, including the Most Popular Film award at theNational Film Awards.
8 . Om Shanti Om : Shah Rukh Khan then played a 70s junior artiste who is reborn as a 2000s era superstar. The Farah Khan-directed film was inspired from Rishi Kapoor's 1980 Hindi film 'Karz'. It opened to positive reviews, making record-breaking business and went on to become the highest-grossing film at the time.
9 . Chak De India : In 2007, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Kabir Khan, a disgraced hockey player who after ruining his own career, takes it upon himself to coach a woman's team. The actor won much praise for his performance and what helped incredibly was that SRK had played the sport during his days at Delhi University. 'Chak De! India' went on to win National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Shah Rukh took home most of the Best Actor Awards that year. And till date many call it his best role.
10 . My Name is Khan : Shah Rukh Khan reunited with his most successful pairing - Kajol for the sixth time in 'My Name is Khan'. Based on a true story, he played the role of a Muslim man suffering from mild Asperger syndrome who travels across America to meet the country's president in light of the September 11 attacks. It focused on the unfair perception that people had of Islam after the attacks. 'My Name is Khan became one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time outside India and Shah Rukh earned his eighth Filmfare award. SRK was praised for playing the role with such ease.
